Will England replace Monty Panesar for the second test?

Terry Lane - Thursday 18.12.08, 17:08pm

England cricket captain, Kevin Pietersen told reports he will delay naming the England team to face India in Mohali on Friday in the second test match until just before the toss.

“The surface is a bit different from the first Test. We want to see how it will turn out before deciding who will play,” said Kevin Pietersen.

But one replacement that is expected is a recall for Stuart Broad in place of Monty Panesar who has recently received some criticism.

Monty Panesar had an off-day in the first test at Chennai and performed very badly.

BBC Radio Five Live cricket commentator and former player, Jonathan Agnew has singled Panesar out for a blistering attack.

Agnew writes “I have never before seen any bowler – but particularly a spinner – fail to tinker with his field, or suggest field changes during his spell.”

He goes on to say “He simply bowls like a robot, ball after identical ball, until he is taken off.”

England lost the first test match to India by six wickets, and whether Kevin Pietersen decides to change the England team or not I will have a cricket bet on India beating England in the second test in Mohali.
