England batsman Kevin Pietersen has suggested that the increasing influence of technology in cricket in the form of HawkEye, will lead many players to reassess their own techniques as umpires are being persuaded to give more lbw decisions through the new technology.
Pietersen who has struggled through the tour of Bangladesh, scoring only 69 runs in seven innings before his comeback in the first Test at Chittagong when he amassed 99 runs.
The key England batsman says that he has had to work on his game and a minor alteration at the crease has helped overcome some of the problems.
“If you look at some of the decisions, I think HawkEye has definitely played a huge role in lbws being given off the front foot. So you’ve got to sort your technique out and make sure you use your bat as the first line of defence.
I’ve had to work a hell of a lot harder than I’ve ever worked before, I’ve always worked hard in my career but I spent hours in those nets at Chittagong and something clicked. I might get two good balls next match but in terms of my form and technique I feel good.
Batting has changed. It’s no surprise to see that three of the top ranked bowlers in one-day cricket are left-armers (Shakib Al Hasan, Daniel Vettori and Ray Price) and that tells you something: there is work to be done.”

I think there is some fault in kp’s technique while facing left arm spinners.even a few other leg spinners have also got his wicket cheaply.most of the time he comes across the stumps and try to play the ball on the on side which makes him more vulnerable for lbws or being bowled.while facing the leg spinners, as most of the times he was trying to play against the spin he was getting out.even if he wants to score runs on offside he was just playing a reverse sweep or a switch shot which have more possibilities of loosing wicket rather than scoring runs.this shows his inability to play on offside and a few teams have used his inability by bowling wide on offside.a clear example of this is last year’s england tour of india where inspite of scoring a century in a one day match that led to their defeat more because of indian bowlers tactically bowling wide to him.he just managed a single four in the last 10 overs inspite of staying not out till the end and scoring a century.my suggestion to kp is he must just try to improve his game on offside or else his career will end abruptly because of his continuous failures.also people are constantly keeping him under pressure by considering him as the best batsman in the current england team which is not so.collingwood is a far better batsman than him in terms of technique
