India cruised to victory by 8 wickets on day three of the third Test in Kanpur, levelling the three match series 1-1.
A vital 46 run last wicket stand between Sreesanth (29) and Sharma (14 n.o.) gave the home side a lead of 60 on first innings. This was to prove crucial as the visitors then surrendered meekly, managing just 121 in their second innings. Harbhajan Singh with 4-44 was pick of the Indian bowlers, surprisingly aided by Sehwag with 3-12.
India lost both openers in pursuit of the 64 needed for victory, although the result was never in any doubt.
Saurav Ganguly’s classy and aggressive 87 deservedly won him the man of the match award. He was the only batsman to truly assert himself on a difficult track. Man of the series was spinner Harbhajan Singh.
