England’s Matthew Hoggard, controversially dropped during the recent series against New Zealand, took 6 for 57 for Yorkshire against Hampshire at Headingley.
Hampshire were all out for 159, still 239 behind the hosts. The follow on was duly enforced and Yorkshire’s position improved further with Hampshire finishing on 136-4 in their second innings.
Hoggard did nothing wrong in New Zealand, and was treated badly by the selectors. His record in Tests is impressive in all conditions and I don’t think he should have been dropped. Harmison yes, but why Hoggy?
What a great wake-up call for the selectors.
