Pakistan pace bowler Mohammad Asif has been dropped for the tri-nations tournament due to start in Bangladesh on June 8th. He was detained at Dubai airport on Sunday on his way back from the IPL after an “alleged illegal substance” was found in his wallet.

Akhtar banned for five years

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has today placed a five year ban on pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar due to what it describes as “repeated disciplinary violations.”
Akhtar is unable to play for Pakistan, or anywhere in Pakistan, whilst the ban is in force. Interestingly it does not prevent him from joining the IPL.

Cricket Australia have made the decision to postpone their upcoming tour of Pakistan in the aftermath of the recent bomb blasts in the country.
Australia were due to play a three Test series, with the tour commencing on March 29th.
