Ryan Sidebottom has been named as England’s Vodafone player of the year.
Sidebottom took 16 wickets in last summer’s series against the West Indies, and was then named man of the series at the one-day tournament in Sri Lanka.
His fantastic year finished with a brilliant series in New Zealand. Sidebottom took 24 wickets at just 17.08 against the Kiwis - at times he looked to be winning the series on his own. His whole-hearted efforts were in sharp contrast to those of some of his fellow bowlers and this award is richly deserved.
